Measuring leadership development without lying to ourselves

Most leadership programs measure what is easy (attendance, satisfaction) instead of what matters (manager effectiveness over time).

A 90% completion rate on a leadership program tells you nothing if the only thing you measured was clicks-on-completion-button.

The metrics that matter: manager effectiveness scores 6 months post-program, retention of direct reports, and survey-based 360 feedback delta vs baseline.

These are harder to instrument and slower to read. They are also the only ones that prove the program worked.
